Hair transplants have been in one form or another for about 60 years. The first transplants were crude and the results were not exactly what the patient anticipated. This was from the man on the road to Hollywood stars – a lot of men were disfigured from transplants. My brother had an old punch style graft at the 1970s and the results were horrific. The grafts were enormous and the donor area was torn. Not only had that but the shock injury from the area that was transplanted caused hair to fall out. But I am going off on a tangent – the point being that baldness was nasty and no one was happy. Then in the early 1990s the notion of grafting appeared. This meant that a strip of hair bearing donor skin was removed from the scalp but the hair grafts were in units of three to four hairs rather than 20 – 30 hairs at the punch graft style.
This meant that transplants appeared far more natural the old dolls hair style of transplant was gradually fading away and just used by the worst kinds of transplant surgeons. The next step was micro hair grafting which meant that now could be transplanted at a time. In addition to that follicular unit extraction methods which meant for the first time ever could be used by the way of transplanting the hair could be taken from the donor area and transplanted to the areas on a patients head. This meant that the normal smiley face kind of scar hair transplant patients anticipated has become a thing of the past. These scars are tiny in comparison to the kind of scar using a strip incision hair transplant although there were scars in the donor region.
Foe had just become popular and the news was hit by the notion of body hair transplant. People wondered about getting Hair Transplant Troy on their scalps and from other parts of their body. Until the early 1990s equipment and the experience did not exist to make this possible. That changed. You can now have hair transplanted out of legs, back, neck, chest and your beard on your head if you desire. So nobody can tell the hair winds up growing like scalp hair. Therefore, if you were told you did not have sufficient donor hair to get a transplant and you have back, a hairy chest or legs you have more donor hair!
